NEW YORK - AUGUST 1: An intimate dinner hosted by Hampton Magazine's Haley & Jason Binn and Debra Halpert along with Sara Herbert-Galloway & Alan Becker presented by Nizuc and featuring Pomellato Jewelry and Lucid Absinth. : August 1st, 2008. Southampton. It was a pleasure to host Hampton Magazine's exclusive Summer Party at my home along with Jason Binn CEO of Niche Media and his lovely wife Haley, my dear friend Debra Halpert Publisher of Hampton's Magazine, and Alan Becker. It was a perfectly tranquil summer evening. Guests were greeted with rare and barely legal Lucid Absinthe cocktails. The superior French drink is the first of its type since Prohibition, only approved to be sold in the US in March of 2007. It has been said that Vincent Van Gogh received his inspiration from this incredible European inspired beverage. Jared Gurfein and Eddie Soleyman graciously shared Lucid Absinthe with us. Scott Fishkind from Nizuc was here to tell us all about the 2009 opening of Resort residences and spa on the Riviera Maya, the resort sounded exceptional. Beautiful Brooke Shields the upcoming cover star for the magazine and husband screenwriter Chris Henchy attened with Jason. Brooke was very gracious and had a chat with my daughter Alana about her role as Miley Sirus' mom on Hannah Montana. Guests included internationally acclaimed artist Robert Wilson, philanthropist and A.C.E. Founder Henry Buhl , architect Richard Meier, Steve Tanger and Elizabeth Fekkai, Barry Klarberg of Guggenheim Wealth Management, James and Kedaki Lipton, Dottie Herman CEO of Prudential Douglas Elliman, Tatiana and Campion Platt, Jeff and Fiona Slonim, Jaci and Morris Reid, Kelly Bensimone, Christina Greeven Cuomo editor in chief of Hamptons Magazine, Barry Slotnik defense attorney, James Cavello President of The Worldwide Children's Foundation of NY, and Margarite Almedia of Westwood Gallery. One of the many surprises that took place during cocktails came when Jason Binn announced that the person holding a glass with a white ribbon would receive free helicopter service between NY and the Hamptons courtesy of Marquis Jets! The lucky winner was Debbie Sroka whose husband Neal was thrilled with her good fortune! Society photographer Gregory Partanio from manhattansociety.com , Steve Mack from Filmmagic and Getty, Niche's in house photographer, Lee Fryd from Newsday and Lauren Bennett from thehamptons.com made sure the event was fully covered. As the sun set dinner guests were escorted through a garden lined with lit tiki torches to a beautiful white tent with white tablecloths and tables carefully adorned with nearly $100,000 worth of beautiful Pomellato Jewelry placed on small cushions for people to try on for their pleasure surrounding hydrangeas cut from my garden. How fabulously extravagant! Guglielmo Melegari and Maya Braguti were here from Milano with the uniquely designed pieces of jewelry. Faarah Grande from Pomellato paid special attention to detail as did Joanna Tucker from Niche Media. Elegant Affairs Catering bedazzled our taste buds with food so artistically prepared that one wanted to savor the visual moment before experiencing the delicious taste of the food. Russell Simmons arrived just in time for dinner along with artist Victor Matthews and Heide Albertson. Ramona Singer dropped by. Libby Langdon interior design expert complemented the beautiful setting as Dr. Howard Sobel and wife Gayle said that they have an upcoming one year anniversary. There was a lot of love, happiness, and positive energy amongst the guests. Celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan patrickmcmullan.com snapped some amazing photos in the dinner tent. Guests were rewarded with gracious bags of swag with a necklace, wrap/scarf and book from Nizuc, and a selection of Guerlain products as they exited. Several people commented on how special the evening was, I agree, I think all who attended helped to make the evening uniquely special.
